Kuwait Airspace Reopens After Iranian Strike Disruption
The authority confirmed that flights in and out of Kuwait International Airport had resumed in full accordance with approved schedules. Officials added that around-the-clock airspace monitoring remained in effect, conducted in close coordination with both domestic agencies and international aviation bodies to uphold the highest safety and security standards.
The temporary disruption followed a declaration by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that it had carried out strikes against 18 major U.S. military targets — including Ali Al Salem and Ahmad Al Jaber air bases on Kuwaiti territory, as well as Sheikh Isa Air Base in neighboring Bahrain.
The strikes represent a dramatic escalation in an already volatile regional standoff, triggered by U.S. airstrikes on southern Iran. Tehran subsequently announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all vessel traffic — a move threatening to choke a maritime chokepoint through which a substantial share of the world's oil supply flows daily.
